13 September 14, Saturday Think Of Them No More Read: Isaiah 43:22-28 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. —Isaiah 43:25 My early years as a believer in Christ were laden with foreboding. I had the impression that when Jesus comes back, all my sins will be portrayed on a giant screen for everyone to see. I know now that God chooses not to remember against me a single one of my transgressions. Every sin has been buried in the deepest sea, never to be exhumed and examined again. Amy Carmichael wrote, “A day or two ago I was thinking rather sadly of the past—so many sins and failures and lapses of every kind. I was reading Isaiah 43, and in verse 24 I saw myself: ‘Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.’ And then for the first time I noticed that there is no space between verse 24 and verse 25: ‘I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for My own sake, and I will not remember thy sins.’” Indeed, when our Lord comes back He will “bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God” (1 Cor. 4:5). On that day our works will be tried and we may suffer loss, but we will not be judged for sin (3:11-15). God will see what Christ has done for us. He “will not remember [our] sins.” Where no far-reaching tide with its powerful sweep May stir the dark waves of forgetfulness deep, I have buried them there where no mortal can see! I’ve cast all thy sins in the depths of the sea. —Anon. When God saves us, our sins are forgiven forever. Insight God’s people had been unfaithful and had stubbornly refused to repent and return to God (Isa. 43:22-24). Yet despite their sins and guilt, God in His mercy said He would forgive them (v.25), even though they were undeserving of His favor (v.26). From the time of “your first father and your mediators”—perhaps referring to Abraham and other covenantal leaders such as Moses—they were all sinners (v.27). Although their sins would be forgiven, they would still face the consequences of their actions and be disciplined through the exile (v.28). Isaiah 43:22-28 22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. 23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense. 24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. 25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. 26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. 27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. 28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches. Jeremiah 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Isaiah 38:17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Job 14:16-17 16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? 17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity. God takes our sins and puts them all in a back - places them behind His back Micah 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. He buries that bag of sins in the depths of the deep in a sea of forgetfulness. My sin is gone deeper than the deepest depths of the ocean and as far as the east is from the west. He chooses to remember my sins no more because they are gone. They are completely washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. Glory!!! What a wonderful thought. My sins are gone and forgotten. God can forgive and forget when it comes to sins. Glory!!! Psalm 13:5-6 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 43:3-5 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 73:1, 25-28 1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. Psalm 103:1-5, 8-12, 17-18 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles. 8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. 9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. 10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. 17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto childrens children; 18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. Meditate on verses 1-5 and 8-12 awhile. Take your time to dwell on the bliss of that glorious thought - my sin, not in part...but the whole --- our sins are gone the moment we trust the blood of Jesus Christ. As far as the east from the west!!! Glory!!! Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Proverbs 13:1, 9, 12-15, 19 1 A wise son heareth his fathers instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. 9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. 12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. 13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. 14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. 15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. 19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. Depart from evil, iniquity, and sin --- Once you depart - they are behind you and behind Gods back to be remembered no more. Glory all our sin is gone. We have the hope of the righteous. We have the blessed assurance that we shall have the Light of the world forever.
