13 Shabar families of Lipidiri who by cultivating Mango trees in an orchard on leased land found hope of generating livelihood. The land was completely barren and land development under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS raised hope and ultimately could change the meaning of life for the Shabar families united under the banner of Lipidiri Lodda Shabar Self-help Group. The story is in the process of development and this year the SGH members of the Shabar group could achieve a very good harvest and sell their products at different markets. This has not only given the families hope of self-reliance, this has empowered them to take on the challenges of livelihood generation in their own hands.
