13 for 31 Right Fighting Day 7 of the Matthew 5-7 There - TopicsExpress

13 for 31 Right Fighting Day 7 of the Matthew 5-7 There is a theme in these three chapters that we just dont really prefer... Its self denial. Interesting that Jesus says the key to happiness is to stop fighting for your rights. It is also interesting that almost all of the Christian books, conferences and teaching series are basically self-help. A lot of our self-helping is our problem. People go to counsel session after counsel session; thousands of hours and millions of dollars are spent trying to resolve issues that were solved in 13 minutes if we would just hear and do. I dont mean to discount counseling really, but my opinion of most of it is not very high. I do believe in counsel, but one of Jesus names is Counselor. Relationships - spouses, family, friends, co-workers, bosses, employees, strangers, even enemies. All covered here, but we just really dont want to hear it; go the extra mile, forgive and you shall be forgiven, turn the other cheek... If anyone ask for your tunic, give them your coat also... Pray for those who persecute you... I tell you that if you have two people that are committed to doing these things in every issue, your relationship cannot fail. If you have two people refusing to fight for their rights, deciding not to be self-preferential and preferring the other over themselves ... It just wont fail. If you have one really committed to it, eventually the other will usually follow suit. If not, they are unbelievers and there is no bond kept by God. If you REALLY want counseling, the Counselor in you will not fail. Love, Gods love, in you never fails. 1What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures (selfishness) that wage war in your members?” James 4:1 (I know thats not in Matt 5-7, so its free). Have a great Wednesday!
