13 months after I submitted it (and 16 after I finished), I have defended my PhD thesis, (I am told) successfully! No paperwork yet (I didnt even sign anywhere, such are the rules), the provisional certificate depends on some council meeting next month, meanwhile I need to fill up another form.... *********** But this cannot prevent me from thanking the few people who were present at the viva, the examiners for their wonderful comments, my supervisor Anirban Das, for his guidance and trust in my work (longer note of thanks is due), people at my academic home CSSSC, and friends who have been with me in this difficult time,- especially Sanchali Sarkar (for her patience, Ive not been the best person to hang out with in these last months), Shenjuti Dutta , MP. Thanks to Supriya-di, Rosinka-di, Lakshmi-di for notes of encouragement via internet, and last but not the least Ratul-da (Anustup Basu) for inspiring pep-talks (18/53 spirit does not have a location). This note of thanks basically covers last few difficult months... and today! Longer note will follow.
