13 years ago my husband - who is always early for everything - was late for a meeting with his client in the World Trade Center so his cab arrived outside at the moment everything hit inside. Our last conversation that day was before 9am, when he was in the cab... I called him on his cell after hearing on the radio a plane hit the building and he said oh, its probably just some nut or stunt - dont worry about it. Im running late for a meeting there. Then - no cell service - didnt know if he was alive or dead until 11pm that night when he came in, after being on a boat, bus, train, cab, and on foot getting out of NYC - with white dust in his clothes - later revealed to be asbestos. My college grad nephew, was about to go to the 75th floor for a job interview at the WTC that day, but was in the lobby when everything hit and ran outside and was saved. His journey home was frightening as well. My husband had 6 clients in that building, many terrible losses followed, including the loss of his business & our home...that devastation scarring so many lives in so many ways forever. Today my husband once again has his own business, is working on a new job at 1 WTC on the 46th Floor - the very first time hes doing work in that area since that day - 13 years later. Today my nephew is healthy, married, has a wonderful family, and a wonderful business in NYC - 13 years later. With deepest sympathies to those who lost their lives and those who lost loved ones. #neverforget #eternallygrateful #alwayslookforward #treasureeachday
