13 years and some weeks ago, I walked into Langeland Funeral Home for my first night of work. I knew nothing about funerals and even less about what my new job would entail. Sandea Thomas trained me with extreme patience, holding my hand (sometimes literally) every step of the way and in all the years we continued to work together. We laughed and talked and argued and became friends as well as co-workers. Today was her funeral and while I would have loved to be there, Im grateful that she and I had been emailing for the last couple of months and that she was given the time to say goodbye to her loved ones. She was a woman of great faith and I know that tonight, Sandrea is happy and free of pain and illness. It was a gift to have known her.
