13 years one month and four days… That is how long we have - TopicsExpress

13 years one month and four days… That is how long we have been fighting the Global War on Terror (GWOT). As such, we have arrived at a period in history where celebrating Veteran’s Day today should serve as a poignant reminder to all of us on a number of different levels. For me first and foremost, Veteran’s Day serves as a reminder to remain humble; to remain humble in the giant shadows cast by the men I had the honor of serving with. Men who on a nightly basis overseas conducted a full spectrum of operations with a level of precision, accuracy, and professionalism that leave me in awe to this day. Men who have tallied deployments overseas well into the double digits. Men who volunteered numerous times in order to find themselves at the tip of the spear and expected/expect nor desired/desire any recognition in return. Men who sacrificed everything in service of their country. Veteran’s Day also jogs my memory on the fact that there is the ideal world and then there is the world we live in, and in the world we live in someone has to be willing to answer the call when it comes time to do bad things to bad people. Finally, Veteran’s Day embodies a reminder to take full advantage of the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis; freedoms that would be stripped away at the blink of an eye were it not for our Veterans past, present, and future; freedoms that make us the greatest country in the world. Thank you to all our Veterans from all branches of service across all generations. youtube/watch?v=Y2dO5kNCPno
