13000 hectares of land brought under Maize cultivation in Bandipora [TMA] BANDIPORA, 16: As many as 7800 hectares of land is being brought under cultivation of high yielding varieties of oil seeds, oats and wheat in Bandipora district during ensuing Rabi season. The department of Agriculture is going to provide a subsidy component of Rs. 40 lakh to the farmers on various agriculture programmes in the district.This was informed by the Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora during an awareness camp organised at Gund Dachina Nadihal under ÍSOPOM’. He said that the department shall organise 12 such awareness camps under the scheme this year in the district. As many as 85 irrigation pump sets, 7 power tillers besides 40 vermicompost, 7 apiculture and 3 mushroom units would be provided to the farmers, he added.During the camp, latest technology for cultivation of different crops was imparted to the farmers by the experts of agriculture department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora. The farmers were also advised to go for seed treatment before sowing and to use certified seed so as to reap maximum benefits. It was given out that 13000 hectares of land was covered under maize cultivation during this Kharief in the district.
