130911 He will come as a Thief in the night: “But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment..2 Pet 3:1(NLT)" Today we remember and honor those we lost 12 years ago in the horrific even known as “9/11.” The above verse is actually talking about end times, but as we read it, it defines the events that took place on September 11th. On that day people went to work, school and shopping as normal. Then out of nowhere and completely unprovoked, all Hell broke loose upon the United States of America. Look at our verse. People were working and going about their daily routine when a terrible noise rocked the first of the Twin Towers. Then moments later, the same devastating fate was inflicted on the second of the Twin Towers. Fire erupted and consumed those in the wake of the plane crashes and powerful steel melted like butter. No one planned for this. It was not on their list of “To-Do’s” that day, but it happened. History records the death of over 3000 souls that day. Like a thief in the night, the lives of those people were stolen through the acts of several madmen. 9/11 happens every day for someone. People die from disease, old age and tragic events every 3 seconds somewhere in the world. We will all die one day. Hebrews 9:27says: “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” We have no idea when, where or how our lives will end, but God does. With that said, are we ready to meet Him? None of those killed in the Twin Towers expected to die that day, but they did. And they were catapulted immediately into the presence of Christ, but who was Christ to them individually? Was He Lord and savior or the Almighty Judge? To you I pose the same questions. Are you ready to stand before Jesus Christ? And when you do, and you will, who will He be to you? Lord and Savior or Judge? Life is brief at best and can end very suddenly. Another 9/11 can happen at any second. If Christ is your King, you have nothing to fear. Don’t be caught off guard. There are no second chances after our life ends. Prepare today for tomorrow and rest in the Lord’s promises. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance..Ps 33:12 Chaplain Doni Col 3:17
