13s Intensity learned a big lesson after just one day of pool play at the USAV Nationals in Minneapolis: It’s a big country out there filled with lots of really good volleyball teams. (Who knew?!) After winning all three of their GEVA tournaments during the season and finishing 2nd in the GEVA finals—and, therefore, earning a bid to the USAV National tournament—the CJVA 13s team experienced the bitter sting of defeat inside the Minneapolis Convention Center. On day 1, they notched just one set and did not win a match until the final day, when they became the first 13s team from CJVA to win a match at the national level. Hearing them cheer, you’d think they’d just won the whole thing! Overall, it was a pretty awesome four days in the “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis and Coon Rapids, where they stayed.
