14,000 Workers Found With Fake Employment Letters In #Benue NOT LESS than fourteen thousand (14, 000) out of twenty-nine (29,000) staff of Local Government Authorities in Benue state are discovered to be carrying fake employment letters. This brings down the total number of genuine staff to 15, 000 with genuine employment letters. This shocking revelation is contained in the interim report on local government salary automation exercise carried out in the state recently. Special Adviser to Governor Gabriel Suswam on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Solomon Wombo who made the disclosure Friday during a meeting with local council chairmen in Makurdi, expressed shock that the report further reveals that under age children of twelve years also appeared during the screening exercise and wondered how they were given employment. Wombo said that a joint committee would soon be set up to verify the authenticity of the report for onward presentation to the governor for implementation. He warned the chairmen against the temptation of carrying out any new employment as their tenure are getting to an end and further directed them to immediately pay their staff salaries; also warning that no money should be diverted for any other purposes. Commenting on the rumor that governor Suswam intend to terminate their appointment this month, Wombo told them to disregard such rumor saying their tenure shall end on the 27th of November this year and urged them to concentrate on their duties. Responding on behalf of the chairmen, the state ALGON chairman, Mr. Kester Ikyenge pledged their support for the implementation of e-payment of salaries at the third tier of government, assuring the governor of their commitment to the development of their areas.
