14.08. 2013: The Puerto Rican Gymnastics Federation hosted the 2013 Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships in San Juan (PUR) on August 8 – 11, 2013. Federation President Jose Vargas and his team, including Competition Director Juan Carlos Colon and Executive Director Mary de Magdalena, organised a spectacular competition with television and online video coverage. Brazil dominated the event with a haul of nine medals, while Cuba came in second overall capturing six medals. Colombia followed in third with four medals. The highest individual medal tally came in the men’s competition from Manrique Larduet (CUB), winning two Gold medals and one Silver. In the women’s competition two gymnasts won two medals, Dovelis Torres (CUB) with one Gold and one Bronze, and Jessica Lopez (VEN) with two Silvers.
