14 August 1993 – 14 August 2014 21 years in Dubai, & a lifetime of adventures in between! I moved to Dubai to live 21 years ago today, & its been, & continues to be, a great place for me to live. In that time Ive worked with people of every nationality, & my villa has been a floating population of interesting people from all over the world, & its been a real privilege to have experienced that - its opened my eyes in a way nothing else could have done. I came here because of a man - as so many women do! We married, had a child, & divorced - so the man didnt last, but Dubai did! But thanks Andrew for bringing me out here, & for all the fun we had while we were together - but most of all thanks for our daughter Sian. Im a real planner, & it was NEVER part of my game plan to be a single mum - but stuff happens to everyone, & Dubai has been a great & very safe place to raise Sian. Its also been dramatically easier to be a single mum here than it would have been back in England, because of the support Ive had from 3 lovely Housekeepers over the years. And do you know what - I absolutely LOVE being a mum, & have enjoyed everything about it !!! The photos say it all - there was so little here in 1993, & now Dubai has become a real player on the world stage, & its been a real privilege to have played a tiny part in the building of this amazing city. Ill be drinking a toast to the last 21 years with some lovely friends at my villa tonight. So thanks Dubai - youve been very good to & for me.
