14 March 2014 Verse Of The Day Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. –Ps 144:4 Thought Of The Day Look at what you have....and be happy! One of the best and most effective ways to experience happiness on a consistent basis is to appreciate what we have. Take an inventory of what you have, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you have to be happy about. Taking an inventory has two dimensions, time and scope. The time of taking an inventory can be daily, weekly, monthly, annually or even hourly. The scope of an inventory can be at various levels including, the individual level, family level, community level, career level, country level, spiritual level, and more. The key is to take an inventory on a regular basis. This eye-opening application provides us with a clear perspective on how to *LOOK AND BE HAPPY*!!! A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. –Prov 17:17 Encouragement To say yes, you have to sweat and roll up your sleeves and plunge both hands into life up to the elbows. Point To Ponder To be rich in God is far better than to be rich in goods. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. –Luke 16:13 Bible Study Subject: Denial (excuse, refuse, rejection) Part 2 of 2 How are Christians tempted to deny Jesus? Bible Reading: Matthew 26:69-75 Key Bible Reading: And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. –Matt 26:75 Denial comes when we dont anticipate its effects on us. Peter wept bitterly, not only because he realized that he had denied his Lord, the Messiah, but also because he had turned away from a very dear friend, a person who had loved and taught him for three and a half years. Peter had said that he would never disown Christ, despite Jesus prediction (Mark 14:29-31; Luke 22:33-34). But when frightened, he went against all he had boldly promised. We need to be aware of our own breaking point and not become overconfident or self-sufficient. If we fail him, we must remember that Christ can use those who recognize their failure. From this humiliating experience Peter learned much that would help him later when he assumed leadership of the young church.
