14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:14-15. Will you? Will you really serve Him? Not just with your mouth, but in action? What has The Lord asked you to do or to stop doing? What, you do not know? Perhaps it is because you do not ask or do not hear. When you shout I am the Lords all day on Sunday, but live like you are satans the rest of the week, should you be surprised that The Lords blessing does not pour out upon you as a river? No, I am not saying that you earn His grace by works, but I am saying why do you expect His blessing if you are not truly His? I witness to people about Christ, and they want nothing to do with Him because of what they see in those claiming to be Christians. Did you know that Ghandi was seeking God and went to a church where he was refused entry because he was an Indian? After that he turned towards Hinduism. Jesus is ideal and wonderful, Ghandi stated, but you Christians - you are not like him. And yet that is exactly what we are called to be, like Him. When is the last time that you led someone to Christ? How about even talked to someone about Him? Why has it been so long? Have you ever asked Lord, what am I carrying or not doing that is preventing me from being effective? If He tells you, will you do what you must to remove it from your life? When things are removed, there is pain, are you willing to endure this? How about if He tells you to step back from a friendship so that He can work in BOTH parties lives? How about if He tells you to step back from your children? What if what I am doing is PREVENTING people from moving towards Christ, am I willing to step back, wait for the Holy Spirits prompting, then move forward? What if He told you to give all that you have to the poor, would you do it? How often do the people and things in our lives so inundate us with their presence and their needs to such a degree that we begin to serve them rather than God? To such a degree that they become idols, gods of no merit? At some point in your ministry (and yes, if you are Christs, you have a ministry, as EACH of us who is truly His is called to serve), you are going to have to determine, am going to serve God or am I going to serve man? But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
