14 burnt beyond recognition in *Dankwambo convoy accident Saliu Gbadamosi -Bauchi FOURTEEN people were, on Thursday evening burnt beyond recognition in an accident involving the convoy of Gombe State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, on the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway. Three Hummer buses and a motorcycle were gutted in the accident, which the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in charge of the Bauchi State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, said occured at 5:00 p.m, in a statement made available to news men. At about 17:00hrs of 22/1/2015, there was a fatal motor vehicles accident involving a convoy of Gombe State governor along Bauchi-Gombe Federal highway in Alkareri LGA. As a result, three Hummer buses and a Motor cycle were gutted by fire.The accident claimed fourteen lives who were burnt beyond recognition, the PPRO, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) informed. According to him, police patrol team attached to Alkaleri Division visited the scene, cleared obstruction and evacuated the casualties to Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Gombe for medical attention and postmortem examination. He added that the police were investigating the accident. Dankwambo, who is the North-East campaign coordinator for President Goodluck Jonathan, was in Bauchi on Thursday for the Presidents campaign which was held at the IBB Square in Bauchi metropolis.
