At the same time, the first Indian expats from West Bengal arrived in the Netherlands via in multinational Unilever. Simultaneously, the first Indian related cultural communities like Afghans arrived in the Netherlands. The Indian Sikh warriors first set foot in Europe during World War I after landing with the British army in Belgium. They freed several Japanese POW camps in the Dutch Indies In WO II. After the excesses against them following the death of Indira Ghandi, many Sikhs left India and migrated to the Netherlands among other countries. During the Indian Beach Fest 140, the story of the migration of the broader Indian diaspora is told.
