[140427] 2NE1′s Crush Passes 4.2 million Downloads & “Missing You” passes 1 Million GAON has released the numbers for Crush‘s 8th week, meaning a full 2 months worth of sales have been revealed. Amazingly, the entire album except ‘Come back Home Unplugged‘ charted all 8 weeks! Most artists only have their title track chart 8 weeks (for example Girls Day‘s latest release), some popular artists might have 1 other song they promoted on shows chart too (for example Girls Generation‘s latest release) but even that is rare. Very few artists sell so consistently their whole album. ‘Crush’ has gathered a total of 370 million DAs in 8 weeks with ‘Come Back Home‘ gathering 88 million, and 2nd title track ‘Gotta Be You‘ gathering nearly 60 million. 2NE1 still has 5 songs charting in the Top 100 (9 on the whole chart) on the download chart. ‘Come Back Home’ sells 912,000 downloads in 8 weeks, an amazing number beaten only by ‘Some‘ by Juggino and Soyu thus far. In terms of first 8 weeks, the next most downloads by a girl group belongs to Girls Day’s ‘Something‘ which accumulated 850,000 downloads in 8 weeks. ‘If I Were You‘ sold over half a million downloads while ‘Crush‘ the single sold over 400,000. CL‘s solo ‘MTBD‘ sold over 350,000. This week ‘Scream‘ moves up 6 places. ‘Crush’ the album has gathered an additional 140,000 downloads this week alone for a total of 4.2 million downloads in 8 weeks. If the two title track and ‘If I Were You’ continue to chart this well, the album may reach 5 million downloads by the end of the year. ‘Missing You‘ has now charted for 22 weeks or 5.5 months! It passed 1 million downloads last week and will likely continue to sell even after it falls off the charts. Many are curious to see if it will chart on the mid-year and year-end charts for 2014. 2NE1 continues to show popularity in streaming with 7 songs in the top 100 and ‘Come Back Home’ coming in at #15. ‘Happy‘ and ‘MTBD’ also show great consistency with a total of 8.3 and 10.8 million total streams respectively. ‘Come Back Home’s’ total is just below 30 million. The entire album gained 9.6 million streams this past week alone for a total of 125 million streams for the entire album in 8 weeks. Most of the songs on the album have fallen off the BGM and Mobile charts. Only the main title track remains on the BGM chart while both designated title tracks remain on the Mobile chart. In terms of physical albums, ‘Crush’ moves up 3 places to #23 showing that the album continues to sell fairly consistently. It will be another 2 weeks at least before we get monthly physical sales numbers for April from GAON, but Hanteo put their numbers at over 27,000. Despite the general downturn in the music industry due to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy, 2NE1 continues to chart well. While many of us have been waiting for the promised MV for ‘Gotta Be You’ we all understand the situation and our thoughts and feelings go out to everyone who has been impacted by the situation. The 2NE1 members must also be continuing their overseas activities with heavy hearts. We can only hope that everyone will find some solace while listening to 2NE1′s music.
