140th Anniversary Celebration, Sunday, May 4 A minister was having difficulty preparing a particular sermon. He said, to himself, “Maybe the Holy Spirit will tell me what to say on Sunday morning.” When at last he stood silently before the congregation, he turned to the Holy Spirit for guidance. A celestial voice said to him, “Tell the people you are unprepared.” In the harried nature of May with all of the swirling activities—there is that pesky voice that prods and pokes and says ready or not—it’s going to happen! For the 140th church celebration, the time is now! As a church, we are as ready as we can be with the help of so many key leaders and volunteers who have worked diligently behind the scenes to prepare for the festivities of the day. Too many to name but it is this “can do spirit” that permeates through the life of our church that gives me a swelling sense of pride for being part of this amazing congregation. It will be a memorable day for all the right reasons as we rejoice and give thanks for the historical witness of Grace First. It all begins with an inspiring worship service accentuated by special commissioned music for the occasion as well as Rev. Fred Ryle bringing the word of Proclamation! From worship, we move to the Great Hall to enjoy a marvelous feast prepared and served by dedicated members of the church with a short program celebrating our beloved history. From the Great Hall, we move to the grounds of the church for the unveiling of the historic marker with a commemorative program! It will be a day to remember and one that will be captured with video and pictures that will be available as a sentimental gift to cherish. We are ready! We are thankful! To God Be Given the Glory for this special day! Peace in Christ…Charles
