14th January: a impeccable piece from Zappas solo effort, Hot Rats, the mighty Peaches En Regalia! One of the first pieces I learnt on guitar, by bending my ear close to the record player in my late teens, and thinking woah mannn can ya play gittah like dat?, turns out you can! For a while I naively thought it was some kinda midi programed trickery (largely oblivious to the fact it was reocrded in the late 1960s by a few guys and Zappa himself!,) which is fair enough having a) not much money and b) not much life experience and c) not a lotta of anything really, toys from your Childhood become mere plastic pointless thingies, once you reach your teens, This was one of the first Zappa albums I owned and I thought he was a filthy Afro haired hippie, crawling out a grave, like on the cover (factoid - thats one of the GTOs Ms Christine, who was also Franks nanny and Gail Zappas best friend!), still got my copy of Hot Rats, well worn and well loved! After all of these years! Awwe! This and Son Of Mr Green Genes, a fond high lights for me! YOWSER YOWSER YOWSER!
