14th Sept. This is an auspicious day of my life when I joined State Bank of Patiala on 14.09.1976 at Bhatinda (Industrial Estate) branch (Now SME Br). When I travel through my memory lanes I find this long journey of 38 years very interesting, happening, wonderful and full of ups and downs. In 1976 my salary was Rs.375/- pm only now it is more than 80000/- pm plus perquisites. My first Branch Manager was Sh. Shyam Lal Kaushal; Head cashier Sh. Bharpur Singh Brar; Clerk Sh. Vinod Kumar Verma; PCF Sh.Darshan Singh WCP Sh. Mukhtiar Singh. I was always afraid of my BM. Now I am Director of my bank, one of the highest positions in the bank. The business of the SBOP was 10000 crore + now it is near to 170000 crore. Branches were about 170 now these are about 1200. I am witness to manual work culture when 3-4 kgs of ledgers were being handled and now the CBS; posting of transaction by pressing of a button. I was posted /transferred to 22 branches and deputed to more than 15 branches during this period. I worked at the remotest branch like RONHAT (HP) to Metro like Delhi. Enjoyed in Shimla posting. I have seen my close friends turning to my enemies and unknown people becoming the best friends. I thank from the core of my heart to all my friends and foes for my success whom I met during this journey; friends for help and foes for keeping me awakened always. JINDAGI TUMSE BAHOOT KUCHH SEEKHA HAI. There is much more to say but cannot. FB has its limitations. Now moving ahead in 39th year of journey………..will meet you soon in next year……Wish all of you all the best.
