Todays Date : 23/01/2015 Birth anniversary celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose today Port Blair, Jan 22 The birth anniversary of National Patriotic Hero, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will be celebrated in these Islands too, tomorrow (Jan 23). To commemorate the occasion, a solemn function will be organized at the Netaji Statue, Marina Park on at 8 am tomorrow to pay floral tributes to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray and the Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash will lead the Islanders in paying tribute to Netaji. Meanwhile, to mark the occasion, the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, in association with Shri J L Tak, other senior political leaders, villagers and general public of Bambooflat area will conduct a cleanliness drive under ‘Swatch Bharat Abhiyan’ from 10.30 am onwards at Bambooflat jetty tomorrow (Jan 23). Free eye screening camp benefit patients at Rangat Rangat, Jan 22 A free eye screening camp was organised by Andaman Sai Seva Samiti at Zilla Parishad Auditorium at Rangat on Jan 21 and 22. The camp was jointly inaugurated by Dr.M.Joy, CMO I/c CHC Rangat and Shri. Sumit Choudhry, Executive Engineer APWD Rangat. As many as 195 patients were screened during the two day camp, of which 130 were of referactive errors, 21 cataracts cases etc. Those cases requiring surgery have been referred to CHC Rangat for onward referral to GB Pant Hospital or at a centre of patients choice. Annual training camp of NCC underway Port Blair, Jan 22 The Annual Training Camp (ATC) 2014-15 for Naval Unit NCC is underway at ITF grounds since Jan 19, in which around 325 NCC Naval cadets (both girls & boys from Senior and Junior Divisions) from various Islands are participating. During the 10 days of the camp, the cadets will be put through various training programmes with special focus on personality development, unity, discipline and a regimental life style. The cadets will also benefit from the regular yoga classes, lectures on different issues, NCC classes both theory and practical, small arms firing practices etc. The participants will also be exposed to competitions in sports/games, cultural activities, quiz as well as public speaking. Saraswati Puja celebration by various institutions Port Blair, Jan 22 The 27th Saraswati Puja celebration by the students of Boys’ Hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajakeeya Mahavidyalaya will be held at its premises on Saturday, Jan 24, 2015. The puja will commence at 10 am which will be followed by prasad distribution. Similarly, Saraswati Puja will be celebrated at the Ramkrishna Mission, Port Blair on Jan 24, 2015 with special offerings, puspanjali etc followed by prasad distribution. Diabetes detection camp held at Rangat Rangat, Jan 22 A Diabetes Detection Camp was organized by ‘Voice of Compassion to India’, an NGO, at R.R.O. at the Anganwadi of Shivapuram Gram Panchayat yesterday. The Chairman of the NGO, Shri. B. Devaraj inaugurated the camp, and advised the gathering to change their life style in order to maintain their blood sugar within normal limits. The blood sugar level, blood pressure, haemoglobin, cholesterol, weight, height, body fat, visceral fat level, body age, BMI, resting metabolism etc of about 69 persons were screened at the camp. The main focus of the camp was however on the people of the age group of 25 to 35 yrs where many remain unaware of the problem within them. Many new cases were detected during the camp, through the random surveys, who were directed to CHC Rangat for further treatment. The camp concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by treasurer of the NGO Shri M.V. Shervin. One arrested for hunting of Andaman wild pig Hut Bay, Jan 22 The staff of Hut Bay Range, Shri. Augustine moses (Forester), Shri. Hanangan (Forester) with other staff on Jan 19, 2015 under the supervision of Range Officer, Shri Ali Akbar arrested one person Shri Sunil Kujur, S/o Cyprien Kujur, R/o Onge Tikry for hunting of Andaman wild pig protected under schedule-I of wildlife (Protection) Act-1972 from Harminder Bay forest area. Three other accused persons involved in the crime escaped. The search to locate and arrest is in progress. The arrested person was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Port Blair on Jan 21, 2015 and remanded to judicial custody. Servants asked file three different property returns this year Port Blair, Jan 22 The Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, has issued a circular on filing returns about their assets and liabilities under the Lokpal Act. This return under the Lokpal Act will be in addition to the requirement of filing similar returns under the existing Conduct Rules. Hence, all Government Servants have to file three returns this calendar year viz the annual Immovable Property Return, as on 31.12.2014, under the existing Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964 on or before 31.01.2015; the first return under the Lokpal Act (as on 01.08.2014) should be filed on or before 30.04.2015; and the next annual return under the Lokpal Act, for the year ending 31.03.2015 should be filed on or before 31.07.2015, a PIB release said. MP requests Finance Minister for releasing additional fund for Isles Port Blair, Jan 22 In Reference to the budgetary allocation and shortage of fund being faced by the UT of A&N Islands, especially in Shipping, Power, Health, Civil Aviation and other development Works, the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray, through a letter has appealed to the Minister of Finance, GOI, New Delhi for releasing additional requirement of fund to the tune of Rs. 116.91 Crores under Plan and Rs. 231.58 Crores under Non-Plan Head over and above the current allocation. A statement indicating the justifications and break up of requirement of fund has been also presented before the Ministry for consideration. The Member of Parliament has requested the Administration to pursue the matter with the Ministry of Finance at the Administration level for releasing the additional fund for undertaking the development works of the UT of A&N Islands, a communication from the MP Bhawan said here today.
