15,000 extra children survived cancer thanks to improvements since the 1970s - does this headline make it look like were doing OK to you? And a 75% cure rate!!....if there was a column on the graph for DIPG it would read 0% survival in the 1970s and it would still read 0% TODAY..unchanged. CRUK do acknowledge there is still much to do for rarer cancers but these often have low number patient populations making it difficult to attract any awareness and funding. The fact that DIPG is rare, with around 40 children affected each year in the UK, leaves experts with such a small number of samples to study, making the hunt for new treatments a real challenge, and this one of the most difficult challenges in oncology!!... The emotions are getting really stirred, and weve lost so many #DIPG kids this past week alone. We firmly believe in inspiring your involvement to support the vital research required to provide foundations for new clinical trials. This will transform the landscape for EVERYONE who may be affected in the future by DIPG....thats how far YOUR donation can go!
