15/07/2014 Today’s Meditation: Luke 12:16-21 Bible on Wealth – Divine Provisions for Your Prosperity 9 But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided? Luk 12:20. As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool. Jer 17:11. There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty Pro 11:24. In our last discussion, we looked at the importance of honoring God with all we have; we saw that giving to God is a sure way of receiving more from Him. Kingdom investment brings kingdom dividends; those who know how to open their hands to God receive more from Him. God will never give to a man what He cannot take from him. When Abraham sacrificed Isaac, God swore to bless him; that is why we are singing “Abraham’s blessings are mine” today. Today, we want to look at the issue of being a blessing to others as a means of provoking more blessings from God. When God blesses a man, it is for him to be a blessing. He said to Abraham, “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing” Gen 12:12. God does not pour His blessings on any man for that man to be a reservoir; He wants those who receive from Him to be channels. In the whole universe, the only body of water that receives and never gives out is the Dead Sea. In reality, the life that receives and never gives out is a dead life! The Dead Sea is the poorest Sea on earth; there is no life in it; a life that receives and never releases is a poor and empty life. The rich man in Jesus’ story that we are looking at today would rather increase his barn for personal consumption that sharing the blessings of God with those around him. Many of our leaders in this part of the world are replicas of that foolish rich man. They increase their barn into foreign nations to store loots from the resources of the country; their mindset was just about themselves. They are fools! Unfortunately, many church leaders are also in this class; many of them are enlarging their barns to give rooms for more church lootings. In the name of the kingdom of God, many church leaders are accumulating so much wealth and storing the same for their personal and family use leaving the majority of their poor members agonizing in penury. Whereas they tell their members that their rewards are in heaven, they are feeding fat on the sacrifices of the people of God on earth. How come a pastor has ten cars in his fleet whereas there are members in his church who cannot afford a common bicycle? How come a pastor is buying houses in all the continents of the world whereas there are poor members in his church who could not pay the rents of the single room in which all his family members dwell? Rather than empowering people and creating opportunities for their members to become well established, many leaders of today’s church are bragging in the euphoria of their personal estates. The Bible gives us the picture of the situation when the church was in her purest state: “Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need” Acts 4:34-35. Is that the true nature of today’s church? Those who claim to give to God without giving to fellow men are religious hypocrites. “If someone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” 1Joh 4:20. “But whoever has this worlds goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” 1Joh 3:17. No man can impress God by the display of his affluence; that man that will move the heart of the Almighty is a man who is always moved by the plight of the needy. “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given” Pro 19:17. “He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor” Pro 22:9. Beloved, a hoarding hearts is a poor heart; a sharing life is a life that has the capacity to possess more from God. Do not wait until you become a “millionaire” before you begin to share; if you cannot give a pair of shoe to a brother or sister who is having none, you will not be able to give a million naira or dollar to the needy even if you possess all the money in the world. Let your life be a channel through which others could be blessed. You are not getting richer by increasing the capacity of your “barn”; you are getting richer by increasing the numbers of people becoming blessed through your life. Go out today and be a blessing to someone; by so doing, you are positioning yourself for more blessings from God. The Lord will open His hands towards you continually in Jesus name. You will be a blessing to your generation and many generations after you shall call you blessed in Jesus name. The Lord will raise you for you to raise many all over the world in Jesus name. Have a lovely day; Shalom! I appreciate those who mail me while I was unable to post my usual daily messages; I appreciate those who are also praying for me. I thank all of you who are reading these messages and sharing them with others. Thank you all for all your love; I love you all!
