15. Argo (2012) - TopicsExpress

15. Argo (2012) Genre: Bio/Drama Winner of Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing at the 2012 Oscars and Winner of Best Film, Best Director, Best Editing at BAFTA 2012. After watching this I realised why this won all of these awards. By the end I was so on edge and tense that I needed a rest. I was mentally drained because the story just doesnt let up and you realise that your gripping the seat thinking What is going to happen? and Will they make it back home? As most people may know about my reviews is I CAN find something wrong with a film BUT Argo makes my job alot harder than it should be. Probably why it won 2 awards for editing, well done Ben Affleck and William Goldenberg for creating this masterpiece. If your on the fence about it because like me you have read the back of the DVD and said That sounds a bit boring trust me and watch it. I thought it was going to be all talking but its all relevant to the plot. Another question Is there violence to compensate for the talking? The answer is NO, only think near is a few scenes of rioting (Which is actual footage from the 1970s) and mild treat but nothing more. The real excitement is in the acting the waiting and the wondering of Will they make it? My highlights were all of Brian Cranston, star of highly rated US TV show Breaking Bad was hilarious for a serious film. A MUST SEE FOR THOSE WHO HAVENT! I was proved wrong by this and so anyone with doubts just watch it, youll see why. Pros: Awards are all well deserved, Superb acting by Ben Affleck and Brian Cranston and You cant take your eyes off it. Cons: None sorry a failure on my part. Verdict: 9.5/10 Date watched 08/02/14
