15 Dollar Minimum Wage is Ridiculous. When determining salary for a given job, three important things are taken into consideration: experience, education, and the level of difficulty needed to perform the job. Aside from an age factor, there are no requirements to work at McDonalds. You need no degree, experience with customer service or within the fast food industry. Minimum wage are for entry level positions. These positions are supposed to be a start, not a final destination. One of the protesters in Charleston this morning had her 5-year-old son with her. “7.25 does not cut it, especially as a mom, I have to sacrifice certain things to get by and sometimes I still don’t cut it.” In other words, she, like many others in her position, is demanding—not what the value of her job or position as an employee is worth—but what she feels she must be given in order to take care of expenses, such as her child, that she cannot otherwise support. That is not the responsibility of where she works to match her need. It all falls back on the entitled philosophy of our generation. America, with all of her faults, is still the greatest place on earth for opportunity. Anyone can become anything. Some people may read this and say Well, Robert, you cant appreciate this because you make good money I do. And I deserve every penny. I spent 8 years in the Marines where you made next to nothing. Then, I spent years where I put in 15 hours a day and sacrificed weekends or time with friends or vacation. For years, I was working full time, raising my son and going to night school. I took risks and it paid off. I didnt do the bare minimum and expect people to just throw money at me.
