15 GRADUATES JOSTLE FOR BUS CONDUCTORS’ JOBS The increasing rate of unemployment in the country has taken an alarming dimension as 15 graduates of Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor Degrees have applied for jobs as bus conductors in Kogi State-owned transport company. Daily Newswatch checks revealed that the applicants, who have been searching for jobs since they graduated, were forced to take the action when the transport company advertised for massive recruitment of drivers and conductors for the new fleet that are about to be acquired. The transport company had been in comatose for over eight years due to poor handling by its management before the administration of Governor Idris Wada decided to resuscitate it through private-partner initiatives. The date for job interview has not be announced yet but an insider in the Ministry of Works and Transport who spoke to our correspondent said the management is in a dilemma over the issue of what to do with the graduates who applied for the jobs meant for Senior Secondary School leavers or semi-literates. Efforts to speak with the commissioner on the matter failed as he was said to have traveled out of the state capital. Source: Daily Newswatch
