15 PEOPLE DIE IN 168 ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS RECORDED COUNTRY WIDE DURING THE PERIOD OF INDEPENDENCE JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS THE police recorded 168 road traffic accidents country wide during the period of independence Jubilee celebrations beginning Thursday, 23rd October, 2014 at 1800 hours to Monday 27th October, 2014 at 06: 00 hours. Of these, 14 were fatal in which 15 people died, 19 were serious accidents which left 21 people with serious injuries while in 25 accidents, 28 people sustained slight injuries and 110 accidents were damages only. Lusaka topped the list of accidents with 87 of which 7 were fatal in which 8 people died followed by Copperbelt which had 38 accidents without any death recorded. Southern had 16 accidents without any death recorded but with 5 serious injuries, and Central had eight accidents with one death. Source: Zambia Police Service
