#15 There will be seasons in our lives. Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. I don’t know about you but I tend to evaluate/think about my life more often in the wintertime than any other season. Perhaps it’s because the snow and cold makes inside a desirable place to be and allows for rest and reflection. I also think it has to do with the scenery. Winter, despite most tropical locations looks different than summer. Things die off. Most trees are leafless and there are no flowers to liven up the fog, the brown, grey, and dark green. What do you think Gods intention was for seasons? I think it was to show us an example of his promises. That God will come again one day, that He will provide when circumstances seem impossible, that he is all we need and is more than enough. Lush green plants, sprouting flowers, leaves and running water seem far away, but they will come in due time. And when they come, I will appreciate them all the more. If every day was sunny, colorful and beautiful would we not lose some appreciation for the beauty? After living through discouraging scenery (whether it’s the environment, people around us, gossip, lies, heartache, disappointment), the sunshine will be that much sweeter when it shines through. We are meant to live and grow, just as everything around us, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually. If we trust that God created seasons, and that the winter will soon turn to spring, we should trust that God can and will redeem seasons of disappointment if we seek him. We can embrace the fog, snow, and clouds because we know change is going to come. God wants us to embrace every season in our lives and know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus.
