15 mental patients were waitng to return to their homes, were being graduated & longing to return home, the dr was testing their mentality whether they were fit to go back. He drew a door on d wall & asked d patients to go thru it to return home; 14 of them moved forward & were trying to go out thru it, arguing, pushing & fighting to go thru it 1st, only 1 sat back laughing at d rest of his fellows. D dr was excited to see that atleast 1 was fit to be graduated, & on asking him why he wasnt going ahead & d reason for laughing at them, he replied that his friends couldnt go thru d door as d key of d door was with him ;) & So d dr decided that all 15 could stay back. Now pay attention & absorb this like a sponge absorbs water :- In d Bible we read d same stories written by John, Luke & Mark; tho d story is d same, their form of presentations are different, John says Jesus to be d Son of God while Matthew calls Him as The King. In John 2 : 1-12 John tells @ his experience during a wedding in Cana, a small town, where Jesus performed d miracle of turning water into wine. Its a small town that researchers even found with much difficulty. There a wedding was considered as a serious & great affair & certain laws to be followed seriously at occassions like weddings- If d 1st marriage in a fam took place, it would be held on a wednesday, if it was d wedding of a widow being remarried, it wud be held on a thursday; Weddings would be a 7 day celebration & d couple wud be led thru d whole village so that all d people could see & greet the to be married couple & congratulate them & even pass thru again after d wedding was done. Moreover, the grooms fam were to keep their door open for a week to all family, friends & relatives & were expected to provide them with food & drink & so d same happened during this wedding, which was probably a relative/ cousin to Mary, Jesus mother. Falling short of wine while d guests were still celebrating & Mary provoked Jesus @ this shortage, expecting Him to do something @ it as she had probably seen Him perform some miracles back home & had faith that He could do something @ it. It was an unexpected situation & not a difficult one, d family must have panicked, bringing shame for d shortage & not affording to buy more at a short notice, they felt helpless & doomed, & so Mary intervened to not let down her fam & put it in Jesus hands to do something @ it. We can see that- 1) Mary was confident that Jesus could do something in a hopeless situation as she must have gained faith in Him when He had performed some impossible miracles at home probably, but this was d 1st miracle He performed publicly. It shows that He was indeed connected to d father in Heaven & so He cud do all this, i) It shows that wine can run out, creating a disaster, an embarassing situation. Wine is a symbol of joy & d joy of a wedding had turned to trouble, shame, anger & frustration, they had run out of joy. ii) Our lives are empty without Jesus. Lacking something could lead us to shame, anger & frustrate our life & our joy runs dry. Pressure mounts at work & troubles us, school work piles up. A mother woke her son at 7 A.M. to go to school, but he refused to go. He said All students & teachers hate me, I dont want to go 2 school today, & cried out Mom, give me 2 reasons that I should go to school. The mom replies, 1 good reason is that you are 45 years old & the 2nd is that you are ............................................................the principal ;) iii) And in a situation like this we cant help, cant do anything, only new wine from Jesus can replace it. 2) It shows that Jesus is concerned @ everyday things in life. Are u burnt out doing Gods work? Frustrated? Have hatred against ur people? Bitterness? Grudge? Our joy can run out but sulking in a corner shall not help. Only Jesus can do something to fill in your running out joy. Like Mary told d servants Just do as He says, Just do it, (JUST OBEY). He shall not just help, but shall do d best for u, all u have to do is to obey. Jesus will transform ur sorrow to joy, ur desert into a garden, death into life, ur mourning into dancing again; as He changed water into wine, so He shall provide u abundantly, He shall change & transform ur negative into d positive, like His cross itself that indicates d same sign as +ve, ur sin to His Grace. We are limited but He is not. His Grace is not limited. U can do nothing to lessen His love for u. Everyone at d wedding rejoiced having d new wine, it would be a shame to announce that d wine had run out, But Jesus saved the family from shame, from anger/ frustration/ being put down. He saved d situation. Mary knew He could do something & told d servants to Just do as He says. He asked d seevants to fill d empty water jars, each could carry @ 8 gallons of water. Be like d empty water jars. We are empty at d start, empty in life, drifting in our troubles, with nothing exciting. At this junction, Jesus fills us with new wine & people around us can see. D difference in our lives/ character/ on our face. Follow d words of Mary- Do what He says to do. Ur simple things will be changed, ur life transformed ; BUT Only if u allow Him to intervene, to do d miracles in ur situation & let Him change d ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY! AMEN
