15 years ago, June 29th 1999 I had the good fortune to see one of my music heroes Joe Strummer in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club. It was his first U.S. show in 10 years, first stop on his U.S. tour. Never had a chance to see The Clash so this was the closest thing for me and I am sure for many there too and it was the first time he was performing many of his Clash songs since the band broke up in 1986. I remember some guy crying next to us because waited for this moment for so long. Three years later Joe died so the show means even more. It was one of the greatest and LOUDEST shows I have seen. Tommy Gun left my ears ringing. No video or photos seem to exist. I have one faded photo I took and Joe looks very haunting with a orange light cast over him. https://youtube/watch?v=JVXFKOyC8jE
