15 years ago today, Bobby Payne and I headed towards southwest Oklahoma and a cold front. Storms ended up being mostly linear and somewhat high based which led to lots of outflow and dust. At times the dust along the gust front was reminiscent of Arizona haboobs. At one point, after letting the front pass we were enveloped in 60 mph winds and lots of dust, but enjoying the show, when the rain hit. Which is not a good thing on dirt roads, which quickly turned into a slippery goo. It took us forever to work our way back to a paved road. I say us..it was actually Bobby and some excellent driving on his part which kept us out of the ditch. I was mostly there for moral support. Once we came to the paved road, we were joined a few minutes later by Val Castor and his soon to be wife Amy. His truck was coated in thick, brown mud, making it look like he had been stuck behind a very large cow with bowel issues. After exchanging a few stories we called it a day. "Dust front" moves in near Altus: https://facebook/rsatkus/media_set?set=a.1214102585851.2033523.1027403914&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=1214123226367&set=a.1214102585851.2033523.1027403914&type=3&theater
