150 armored vehicles are patroling Beijings streets starting Monday, reports Communist Party mouthpiece China Daily. China Daily: The patrolling corps will become the citys primary force to crack down on terrorists, mass violence and gun crimes, said police officials. Yeah right, people who petition the government and those who commemorate Tiananmen massacre certainly terrify the Chinese government, the real terrorists. Its not surprising Beijing is beefing up security in the lead-up to the 25th anniversary of Tiananmen Massacre. Five renowned scholars, lawyers (including Pu Zhiqiang, Ai Weiweis lawyer) and writers have been criminally detained for holding a discussion about the event in a private home on May 3. Gao Yu, a high profile journalist who has been jailed for Tiananmen before, has also been detained. More than a dozen have been put under house arrest, including parents of the massacre victims.
