150 years ago today Sherman left Atlanta for Savannah. It is a great thing the North won the war. Sherman did what he had to do. Except, . . . an advance sniper shot g-g-grandfather Thomas Peter Halliburton (Confederate Private) west of Savannah. Buried in a mass grave in Laurel Grove Cemetery, no family member knew even that. Until Bruce and Mary moved to town.
