15TH. AUGUST, 2014: History was created when we were invited by the General Secretary of the Central Organization of Guyana, Br. Ramjohn, to host a Saudi Arabian Television Station for breakfast and to meet our family as Muslims and hold interviews and discussion of Islam in Guyana, and also about our country. We accepted and gave the guests an amazing morning of harmony, love, goodwill, peace, that is the reality of Guyana. They were told of our contribution to Guyana, that the heroic African (Fulani) as slaves were forced to lose their Islam and prayed in hidden quarters until discovered. They were told of the Indentured Indians, and of the economic strength of Muslims, and the freedom to practice our faith, and how we have in Guyana have freedom of religions, and how we share our holidays and celebrations in grace and goodwill, sharing and loving in respect, even protecting places of worship of all religions, and partaking of services. That Guyana is a land of religious and ethnic harmony and goodwill. Where there is a Mosque/Masjid, not far is a Church and a Hindu Temple, and none ever try to inconvenience the other. They were also told of the harmony and respect among fellow Muslims, there being no sectarian warfare or critique of shame publicly, and that all Muslims can pary in any Masjid. They were told how the Leaders historically look upon Muslims as a positive contributor to Guyana and the its economy. That Charity of Muslims are for all peoples regardless of religions. We presented bank of Guyana minted coin sets to all the visitors, which awed them. Then they were presented the famous DEMERARA GOLD - our special sugar and were given a history of Demerara Sugar,. and its by products. They enjoyed the breakfast all of Guyanese indigenous produce, and loved the ripe fried plantains, our avocados, our mangoes, payaya, pineapple, etc etc. They loved the coconuts on the trees and to see mangoes hanging in our compound. We were happy to assist the CIOG in the entertainment of the honoured guestsand to showcase Guyana to the Saudi Arabia, and the television affiliates around the world. And in fairness the Central Islamic Organization was well represented and their positive contributions to Islam, to education, to medical help to all humanity and charity even housing to all Guyanese were highlighted. They enjoyed the peace and harmony of the family and the compound. They left to go into the interior later in the day. God Bless them, and also CIOG, I was happy to assist.
