15th July 2013 ... PRESS RELEASE AFC LEOPARDS READY TO PROWL. AFC Leopards is an illustrious club that was established in 1964, and it’s built on a tradition of quality football on the field and a tight-knit social community off the field. And in line with our tradition, we have utilized the mid season transfer window to inject quality fresh blood into the squad with the view to realizing our aim of bagging the 2013 KPL title. We are now proud to unveil a complete and highly talented team comprising a mix of both youth and experience coupled with a well trained and highly skilled technical staff. The new talent from various backgrounds include Peter Opiyo from Tusker FC, Dan Wagaluka from Saona FC, Abdalla Juma from Sofapaka, Michael Khamati from AP and SaddIk Abdikadir from Local Government. Of the pitch, and as a gesture of inclusiveness, we plan to form six committees of seven members each to help the National Executive Committee run affairs of the club with membership drawn from across board. The committees will include Finance & fundraising, Marketing, Fans mobilization, Security & ant counterfeit, Legal and Elders Committee. And in line with our new constitution, the National Executive Committee has appointed Richard Ekhalie as the Acting Chief Executive Officer pending an open competitive process that will see interested parties apply for the position for interviews and consideration. Qualification details for the position will be posted on the official club website afcleopards.net in due course for candidates to apply. The immediate interim appointment has been necessitated by the urgent need to put in place structures as promised by the new office in campaign manifesto. We promised among others to set up a functional secretariat with professionals to run the day to day affairs of the club as a way of separating powers. On that point, a physical address befitting the status of the most decorated club in Kenya has been identified with occupation expected in two weeks. The club is also on the verge of leasing an up-to-date training ground after successful negotiations with two prospective arenas. Ekhalie brings on a board a wealth of experience having served the club in the same capacity in 2011/2012. Signed Allan Kasavuli Chairman, AFC Leopards SC.
