16 August 2013 Nordic Fund Data integrates EFAMA’s European Fund Classification Nordic Fund Data announces it will integrate EFAMA’s European Fund Classification, (EFC) within its framework as a common backbone for peer analysis. The EFC is a pan-European classification system of investment funds which has been developed by the European Fund Categorization Forum (EFCF) – a working group of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA). Leading cross-border fund management companies and information providers are members of the EFCF and have helped construct the Classification. The vision of the EFCF is to create a true pan-European classification of investment funds which is supported and recognized by the fund groups as well as data vendors and national associations. The classification should be beneficial for all parties as it will ensure: Transparent comparisons of cross-border funds Less controversial peer group analysis A common language for fund classifications High threshold levels that secure investor protection Greater standardization in the production of funds A free source of fund classifications for the financial market The current classification reflects a total universe of over 17,000 instruments supplied by 136 fund management companies. Funds on Nordic Fund Data that are not currently classified by the EFC will receive an indicative classification. Additional information on the European Fund Classification can be found on EFAMA’s web page here: efama.org/SitePages/EFCF.aspx FundConnect, in a joint venture with Finesti, operate as the Classification Administrator of the EFC. Inclusion in the EFC is free of charge. Please contact Søren Grathwohl ( sg@fundconnect) or Carsten Mahler ( cm@fundconnect) if you wish to have your funds included in the Classification. Nordic Fund Data is a fund information portal offered to professional investors within the Nordic Region. For more information please visit nordicfunddata or call Anthony Miranti at +45 25 50 68 79.
