16 June 2013 – THIS IS YOUR AMERICA – “Fathers Day 2013 – For My Dad (and Poor Mother!) And My Brother In Memoriam, My Son In Guatemala, And All Babymakers In This Big Round World Of Ours!” Is there a more important job out there than being a good father? I say “NO,” but apparently a lot of people think otherwise. And, yes, I must admit that I have been one of those people throughout this most important of jobs. Why? Because I am selfish. Selfish, but at least honest about it. Like I like to say here: “Hey, I’m working on it!” If I go by my son’s last letter, I have done a pretty good job! I had thoughts of publishing it here, but it might be better to get his approval first. The boy can write! Wonder where he got that? I will say I cried for the second time in twenty years. From my experience, kids could care less what you do for a living, how much money you make, or how wide your breadth, girth, or swingin’ door. They want you to be there regularly for them, and if you are doing that, it’s pretty hard to mess up. Now like we hear from the sensible among us, “It’s simple, not easy.” Chew on that for a while! When you stop and think about it, you have a child’s heart, mind, body, and soul in your hands, and a pretty big job at that. Hey, you signed up for it when you played house in all it’s various incarnations, so get busy being a Father. It’s your day!
