#1625. I know many of the 2k7 and 2k8 batch people reading it would have a pretty good idea of who I am. This is not a confession per se, its more of getting rid of a few things off my chest. Ive always been a moderate smoker through out my time. I smoke 4-5 cigarettes through out a day, albeit on occasions, and it has been that way for 6 years now. It started that way during my 1st year, and in my 2rd year, owing to the fact that I spend copious amount of time in my own room, it meant I usually bought packets for my own convenience. Soon, it also meant that most of my smoker batch mates knew that I was the only source of procuring a cigarette late at night. The rush of people towards my room for a late night smoke (and even sometimes during the day) rapidly increased during the start of 3-1, and I thought it would be for the best if I started selling cigarettes instead. This was just an idea, and soon I implemented it. The news spread like wildfire, and soon I was selling cigarettes to people I didnt even know. It wasnt that time consuming and I was happy to help any fellow smoker in distress. But soon, I could feel that people had started to look down on me. I also came to know that a few people had even disparaged my intellect for this act. I always thought of this to be another one of my college experiences, and I could never comprehend why did this one act seriously bothered so many people. Anyways, I made a considerable amount of money to cover up for my basic needs through this social service, and decided to put a stop to it next year. All in all, it was just one of those crazy ventures. Today, to all those who berated and criticized me behind my back, F**k you. It was just an out of control scenario, which I optimized for mutual benefits. There is no indignity in selling cigarettes, or anything for that matter as long as its done tastefully. Its been a long time since then, and I have certainly moved on. Nonetheless, it feels good to finally let certain people know the truth.
