168 Morning Eph. 5:15, 16; Josh. 22:5; Col. 4:5, 6; 1 Thess. 5:22; Matt. 25:5, 6, 13; 2 Pet. 1:10; Luke 12:37 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. “Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law… to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”—Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.—Abstain from every form of evil. “As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’… Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.—“Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes.” Evening Rev. 3:11; Matt. 9:21; Matt. 8:2, 3; Matt. 17:20; Heb. 10:35; Phil. 2:12, 13; Mark 4:28; Hos. 6:3; Matt. 11:12; 1 Cor. 9:24; 2 Tim. 4:7, 8 “Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”—“Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” “I will; be clean.”—“Faith like a grain of mustard seed.” Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.—Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. “First the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.”—“Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord.”—“The kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.”—So run that you may obtain it. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award me on that Day. 168
