16th October 2013. An active weather front moving up from the south west will bring spells of rain to all areas with the largest amounts (around 1-2 inches) across parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland, which is where the main risk of some localised flooding will be. Other western parts of UK will see widely around 15-20mm but locally as much as 25mm with as much as 30-35mm over some high ground areas, though some places may escape with only small rainfall totals. Rainfall amounts will be lower further east but still with some strong bursts possible at times. The rain will be accompanied by strengthening winds with gusts of 35-45mph for a time, mainly across western and some southern areas and especially around some Irish Sea coastal areas, though the strongest winds should be quite short lived. These may lead to some minor disruption and damage to some trees which will still be in full leaf and top heavy. WEDNESDAY Image from the GFS model at weatheronline.co.uk Many will start dry but with some mist and fog patches across eastern areas and quite a lot of cloud. An area of rain, with some heavy or even very heavy bursts in places, will be across south western areas of the UK and across Ireland making its way north eastward. All areas will see some spells of rain for a time but conditions will turn drier and brighter from the south west but with some showers feeding in behind the main area of rain, mainly toward western areas of the UK and across Ireland. The rain will become slower moving as it reaches Scotland later in the day. Winds will be north easterly turning south easterly, and turning south westerly behind the area of rain. It will be another cool day for most but milder air will be moving in from the south west behind the band of rain. Temperatures for most will range from single to low double figures but toward the south/south west temperatures will reach the low to mid teens.
