17/03/2014 Today’s Meditation: 2Timothy 3:10-13 Courage To Stand But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra--what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution 2Tim 3:10-12 I was praying with a sister yesterday who is being harassed, victimised and intimidated in her place of work for standing for the truth and integrity. In today’s word, it takes a strong persuasion and great courage to live in integrity. Those who want to live in the truth must be ready to face a lot of troubles from men and women whose consciences have been sold out for money. The most painful thing of all is that many people who claim to be Christians are part of the compromise and corruption in the system. So, it is common to see Christians persecuting fellow Christians perceived to be enemies of progress because of their uncompromising attitudes. Just because of some illicit gains here and there many church goers have lost it in their walk with God and are enemies of those who will not compromise. The rottenness in the society is so much that even the church is not spared. Right inside the church ministers wage war against each other for standing on each other’s way of “making it”. Everybody is looking for a means of getting an additional naira through the back door. Those who will say no, those who believe that godliness with contentment is a great gain are labelled enemies of progress and are treated as such. Every child of God who is ready to live for the truth must never be afraid of persecution. In actual fact, if you are not persecuted in today’s system bedevilled with grave compromise and monumental corruption, I doubt your own integrity too. If you are a light, you must expect a stiff opposition from darkness. If you will not be part of a corruption in that office, your boss and your subordinates may collaborate together to frustrate you, they may victimise you or deny you of your benefits and rights. They may go as far as setting you up for destruction. You can read the experience of Daniel on this in the 6th chapter of the book of Daniel. Daniel went to the den of lions just because of his integrity and stand for the truth. He was courageous and he stood till the end. The God that Daniel stood for all his life also stood for him at the time when it mattered most. So if you are a Daniel in your office or your place of assignment, the God who stood for Daniel will certainly stand for you. Beloved, please do not compromise you stand because of persecution. Receive courage to be a lone ranger. Stand for God; stand for the truth. God is looking for people in this generation who will not bow their knees to mammon. Be one of such people; allow God to take glory over your life. Do not be a party to corruption for the fear of losing your job. It is better you lose your job than losing your stand with God. This generation needs men and women of courage; men and women who will say no to corruption, compromise and corporate robbery. God is looking for people who will represent His kingdom in those places where great evils are being perpetrated in the society; men and women who will be light in the darkness of this world. God is looking for people who will not keep their Christianity in the church after the grace; men and women who will be Christians not only in the church but also in every place of their endeavour. Will you be one of those people? Be courageous to face opposition in the defence of your faith and integrity. Do not forget, the Lord is on your side! May the grace of God place you in great places where your effort can no reach in Jesus name. May those who victimise you for the truth be brought to shame before you in Jesus name. Every obstacle placed on your way by agents of darkness will crumble this moment in Jesus name. Have a great week ahead; I love you!
