17 years ago today, my entire world changed. Jordan Michele came into this world almost 2 weeks early and not under the most ideal situations. I had pre eclampsia and when I went into labor, my husband was off doing testing so he could go back on Active Duty, so I was by myself. After several hours of being hooked up to monitors, Jordans heart rate began dropping with the contractions. Everything went into a whirl wind after that: people rushing around, machines beeping and buzzing, lights blinking all over the place, being rolled into the operating room, waiting for the first cry of your newborn baby, and then what every new mother fears - being told your baby is having breathing issues and has to be flown to All Childrens in St Pete. I only got to see a brief glimpse of her before she was placed in the transporter and taken away. The next several days were completely agonizing for me. I was stuck in one hospital, recovering from an emergency c-section, and Jordan was over an hour away in a NICU. I spoke to the doctors and nurses at least dozen times a day trying to get answers and updates. Jordan had several problems she had to overcome in order to be able to come home - hydrocephaly and pneumonia were just a few. They had to place a feeding tube in her because she couldnt eat by mouth. So many obstacles......and shes fought every one of them. My Jordan is a fighter. The doctors didnt think she would live this long, and shes proved them wrong. Her fight continues as she struggles every day with developmental delays, neuro-muscular and orthopedic issues - but she doesnt give up. And I wont either. This is why celebrating her Birthday is such a huge deal to me. 17 years her and I have fought together, against each other at times, cried together, triumphed together, and laughed together along with everything else. My little Bunny face. Im so proud of the beautiful young lady youve become and I love you with all my heart Jordan Michele. Happy 17th Birthday!!!
