1700-year-old artifacts on display in Nanjing A new #museum in #Nanjing has recently put on #display precious artifacts, such as porcelain items, pottery figurines, paintings and calligraphy, that are nearly 1700 years old. Nanjing was the ancient capital of six #Chinese dynasties, from the 3rd Century to the 6th Century. The new museum brings together the #treasures from each of those six #dynasties, namely the Wu, Jin, Song, Qi, Liang and Chen dynasties. The museum, which opened on August 11, has been designed by the son of famed Chinese architect and the designer of the Louvre pyramid Ieoh Ming Pei. It spans an area of 22,000 square meters, and is built on the ruins of the Jiankang castle, which belonged to the Jin Dynasty.
