17th August Family Gateways Genesis 22:17 ..... and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. Our theme verse, talks of one of the many promises the Almighty God assuref Papa Abraham of. What God meant by Abrahams descendants possessing the gates of his enemies meant possessing their cities. City gates aside being part of a citys protection against invaders also serve as a place where central activities do take place. To control your enemies gate was to conquer their city. Just as gates playe a significant role in the physical so does it in realms of the spirit. There are gateways in the realms of the spirit concerning families, groups and individuals. Ones inability to adequately guard his/her gate by submitting it to our Lord Jesus is what has caused many demonic invasions. The devil we encountered in Genesis as a serpent developed into dragon in Revelation. Giving the devil and his pupies a foothold in your life is a dangerous thing to do because they sure will make a stronghold of it. Today, I want to deal with family gateways. I believe you are very conversant with the story of Abraham. Papa Abraham though he was the faith opened a gateway in his life which affected generations yet on born. In Genesis 12, he opened a gateway and gave a lying spirit charge over his familys gateway. Launce, how do mean? He lied that Sarah was his sister. The lying spirit took charge of Abrahams gateway and in Genesis 26, Isaac told the same lie-she is my sister. Failure of the Abrahamic generation to deal with this spirit and guard the gateway caused more invasion. In Jacobd life the lying spirit had invited an envying and stealing spirit into the family. So Jacob envied Esaus birthright, bought it and lied to Isaac so as to steal Esaus birthhright. Now, the puppies had a field day in this family because 10 of Jacobs kids envied one son-Joseph and even plotted to kill him but later on sold him into slavery. Another gateway in the family, waa that of difficulty in childbirth. Sarah had difficulty in giving birth so was Rebekah and Racheal (Jacobs most loved wife). The good news is that one boy, Joseph didnt allow the gateway to be left open in his life. My dear, I dont know if you get the point im trying to make yet. There are some families that the women have bad marriages, in others the guys turnout to be drunkards and in some is totally impossible to get a promonent job and when one does those puppies strongly attack. My dear, if you have become genuinely saved relaxing in the amazing grace of Jesus the Christ, then you are covered. But that doesnt mean the family demons will let you be. They will throw their arrows and darts at you but you need to remain in the power of His might and do battle against them on youe behalf and that of your family. Precious one, take a look into your family is there some wrong that seems to be very common among memberd in your family. If not thank God but keep looking prayerfully. If yes, my dear gird up your prayer aprons and pray for the deportation of them puppies. As long as you are a beliver in Christ, you have what it takes to deal with those demons. Battle them in prayer with the mentality that Christ has given you victory. Guard your families gateway. # Sweet Breath Devotion#
