17th December. FRANCES - LAKE BRINGALBERT. Well here I am back on the road for a short time. I left Mt Gambier yesterday morning after fuelling up and heading down the Riddoch Highway. I was going to go to Dartmoor to start with but I had been contacted from a friend who was at Frances so headed that way instead. I was driving along and felt there was something not quite right with my set up, when it suddenly dawned on me that I had not put my Under Tow sign in the back of Seedling. I stopped at Dartmoor and did that, all good and kept on going. It was uneventful trip to Frances then and meeting up with Vida. Miss Daisy behaved beautifully and I am sure she was happy to have the black stuff under her tyres again. The recreational ground at Frances is a great little spot for an overnight stop. Plenty of room around the oval and clean toilets, no showers, and it is free camping. The only problem we had yesterday was the horrendous winds, which kept us inside most of the day, and then last night the dogs of the town party around 3 in the morning. Every darn dog in the town was in the conversation and it lasted until about 5 or 6, so managed to grab a couple more hours sleep after that. The morning was beautiful, no wind, clear blue skies and the sun shining. We took our time having breakfast and deciding what we were going to do for the day. Neither of us were very happy with the locals and the noise they made during the night and were now continuing during the morning so decided to move on. We drove for about an hour or less to one of the idyllic places around. Lake Bringalbert. It is between Goroke and Apsley. We are the only ones here and it has been the most perfect of days. Once again a very clean toilet, and no other facilities. We have sat outside all day, talking and catching up on each others travels and watching the world go by. A perfect day, the sunset has been nice and I could spend another week here without too much effort at all. Unfortunately I am unable to do that as I have to move on in the morning, to head towards Kilmore and the housesit that I will be doing over Christmas/ New Year. I will certainly be back here, after the holiday season of course.
