18 Celebrities Who Run: Timothy A. Clary, Paul Hawthorne, Kevin Mazur/Getty Images There are a lot of fads in the fitness world, but one of the most fundamental ways to get fit is running, which never goes out of style. Runners are a proud bunch and celebrity runners are no exception. Read on to find out which actors, singers and hit the pavement to stay in shape, keep their cool and even raise money for charity. Will Ferrell Will Ferrell may make you laugh on TV and in the movies, but when it comes to running, this man is all business. It really does improve my energy level. I feel different. I feel better, he told USA Today. And I just love having that part of the day, where youre going on a run and you dont have phone calls or mail to answer. Ferrell will next be seen onscreen in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” the follow-up to his hugely successful 2004 flick “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” Timothy A. Katie Holmes Actress Katie Holmes, who recently took a turn as Jackie Kennedy in the mini-series “The Kennedys,” ran the New York City Marathon in 2010 after training with celebrity coach Wes Okerson, according to Shape magazine. Okerson told the magazine, “When you prepare for a marathon, its mainly about building up mileage to a point where your body -- and mind -- can handle 26 miles. After a couple months of increasing your mileage, I recommend doing two short runs (4 to 5 miles), two intermediate runs (6 to 8 miles) and one long run (10 to eventually 18 miles) per week. Diddy (he currently prefers to be referred to by his given name Sean Combs) ran the New York City marathon in 2009, using his love of running to raise $ 2 million for charity. Never in my life have I ever experienced anything as crazy as this, he said in a press conference, reported by CBS News. It was a beautiful experience. The music and fashion mogul’s official time was 4:14:54. The money he raised went to support educational charities. Combs’ latest project is a new music TV channel called Revolt. When I dont get to run, I am a grump, she told Runners World magazine. Nobody wants to be around me. Cranky! Everything looks bad, my children seem too loud, and my job seems like fun, but not as much fun. Like, I love my job, but suddenly my pants arent fitting right and everything just seems wrong. After Japans earthquake and tsunami disaster in 2011, he even headed up a two-mile charity run in Santa Monica, California to raise money for the victims, according to ContactMusic. Duhamel recently became a father for the first time, when Fergie gave birth to the couple’s son Axl Jack in August 2013. Im a runner. Zellweger tries to squeeze in three miles on the treadmill every day, reportedly occupying herself by catching up on TV, largely CNN. She refers to running as her therapy. Joey Fatone Ex N Sync member Joey Fatone used to get his workout in performing before thousands of screaming fans each night, but hes traded in his dancing shoes for running shoes. Fatone hosts a cooking series, “My Family Recipe Rocks!,” for the Live Well Network and recently reunited onstage with this ‘N Sync bandmates at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. The New Orleans, Louisana-born star will next be seen in the film “The Devil’s Knot,” followed by “The Good Lie” and “Inherent Vice” early next year. Drew Carey The Price Is Right host Drew Carey rekindled his love of running to improve his health. “When I was in the Marine Corps, I did a training run -- 14 miles -- but that was when I was 24ish,” he told Competitor in 2011 before his first half marathon. “I haven’t been running in all these years. I just started again with the weight loss. Last year, I was doing mostly the elliptical machine, but I wanted something more. Nautica Triathlons Classic Distance Race is held annually involving a half-mile ocean swim, 19-mile bike ride ride, and four-mile run. In 2012 the actor won the celebrity male division of the competition. Stults is currently working on a new sitcom for FOX called “Enlisted,” which will premiere on the network in early 2014.
