18 days out from Christmas, this is a tally of my last few days: 1. Thursday, I attended the LOKC party and had so many hugs from so many people I never get to see. Lovely people said lovely things about me including terribly hip young women who complimented my personal style, which made my decade, so thanks for that Julie Porter Scott. No kid meltdowns. In fact, Trinity articulated that she missed me on the way home, then promptly fell asleep. 2. Friday, fabulous electrician hooked up the 220 on my double oven Ive been waiting to install forever. He also repaired the outlet in the living room, so we have actual electricity in there now and can put away the giant orange electrical cord that weve strung from room to room. No kid meltdowns. 3. Saturday, I waged war with the oven opening, and was finally able to install the oven, thanks to Man Around the House. Its working, which means we could flip the breaker than controlled it AND the upstairs heater. Attended Denise Bauer Reids fabulous awful ornament party, and my ornament was stolen three times, which I will wear as a badge of honor. Laughed myself silly. Ate food, drank champagne, talked to strangers. No kid meltdowns. 4. Today, therapy for Trinity where we discussed really tough stuff around the holidays. Went to Christmas tree farm and got tree. Put up tree. Some pouting from the 15 YO. Some anger from the 12 YO. Both managed to use their coping skills and chill pretty darn quickly. NO KID MELTDOWNS. I am so darn happy. Merry Christmas!
