18 years ago,April 2 1996, she came into my life and made me want to be a better man, a better person and a good dad. I still remember it like yesterday when my platoon commander Gunny Torres came into the berthing area of the U.S.S Guam and said Hey Allard, isnt your old lady due to pop pretty soon?, I replied, Yeah Gunny, Dr says April 13. Gunny-No shit, you having a boy or a girl? Me- Dr says its gonna be a girl. Gunny-No shit, let me know when you hear something. Me- Aye Gunny! He starts to walk away, stops, says Hey Allard, I almost forgot to tell you, your old lady had a baby girl this morning at around 0500, head up to the comm center and give her a call. Almost 4 months later I got to see this little person who I had only seen in (shitty) pictures, there she was, in her stroller with a cute little outfit on. I look at my (ex) wife and asked if it was ok to hold her. Ive been wrapped around her little finger ever since, and she knows it. She makes me crazy, mad, and proud all at the same time. She is without a doubt, the most important female in my life today, there is a close second but for now, shes still Daddys girl. Sarah, Happy 18th Birthday. I Love You more than you know.
