185 kg/407 lb Slow Pause Squat. I know I always talk about the benefits of squatting and the benefits of training positional strength... so why not put them together!?! Slow, eccentric movements help build the neuromuscular capacity to move weight through a specific range of motion. Slow negatives have been utilized across many strength-training disciplines including weightlifting, powerlifting, bodybuilding, and gymnastics. For weightlifters, the squat (as important as it is) is simply an auxiliary movement. Weightlifters compete in the snatch and the clean/jerk. Now, dont get me wrong: There is absolutely a correlation between the squat and the Olympic lifts, however the squat must be transferable! This variation of the squat has enabled me to train multiple capacities at one time. Again, I have to thank the Russians for putting this bad boy in my arsenal. #thirteenthstrong Dmitry Klokov #weightlifting #squat #letsgetstrongtogether
